Providing Virtualization Information & Training for Small and Medium Business IT Consultants
I do love news from my friends at Diskeeper, so I'll pass this on "unfiltered". Their new V-locity software is available.
Burbank, CA—June 23rd, 2009—Diskeeper Corporation today launched V-locity™ virtual platform disk optimizer—a brand new product designed to eliminate virtual disk I/O bottlenecks, maximize virtual server speeds and free up vital disk space on Microsoft Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V.
Taking Virtualization to the Next Level
All computers suffer from fragmentation. Virtual systems suffer twice as much, fragmenting at the host and guest levels.
I had the opportunity to talk with Dave Finklestein of PHD Virtual this week, and I had to pass on some really great tools for people using VMWare that his company makes available for no charge. Yes, free tools!

They give away four tools, and tell me a fifth is coming next week.
So I will admit, I really enjoyed the last two webinars I did. And because of that, I'm going to do some more. Starting in July, I'm going to put together some webinars around topics of interest, and try and do one every two weeks (of course, with July having WPC *AND* a trip to Ireland, I'm already looking at conflicts).
So what would you like to know about? I'm planning topics, but would love to know what you want to hear more about!
While I'm not on this one, I thought you might be interested in this
Webinar - June 15: How to Sell Server Virtualization Projects
What do you do when you find out that one of your customers or prospects has already implemented a server virtualization project? While this is disappointing news, there are still plenty of opportunities for you to add value to the project. In fact, after the initial phase, many customers get stuck on how to extend the project.
I saw this article recently on one of the lists I subscribe to, and while I think it's a year later -- I've been saying this for a while -- I agree wholeheartedly with the article.
A good read.
Not able to catch me today? Catch me tomorrow. I'm speaking everywhere!

Most of your customers are still currently running Microsoft SBS S003. Unfortunately migration to SBS 2008 is a multi-step process, with no in-place upgrade for the 64-bit software. So, you've put off upgrading your customers due to the time, cost and risk involved in doing the migration, and the inevitable downtime associated with a new server installation.
What if downtime was a thing of the past?
I'm doing a podcast this week I wanted to make sure I pointed everyone to. This should be a great discussion around how to sell.
Webinar - June 8: How to Sell Server Virtualization Projects
Given the current economy, companies are searching for ways to save money and better utilize what they currently have. Server virtualization is a popular tool to save money and quickly garner your customer's attention. But, as a solutions provider, you shouldn't be in the business of selling tools.
Once you've accepted that you need to embrace virtualization, the next step is to connect to a partner.
Say what you will about the great virtualization debate, but the hypervisors are about the same. Microsoft, VMWare, Parallels, Xen, they all have great hypervisors. Particularly as we look in the SMB, they all do a great job of virtualizing workloads.
What is really different between the products is the management tools, and the partner programs that stand behind them. And as you begin to grow your practice, you'll rely on having a good engagement with your partner of choice.
I got this release from my friends at Diskeeper, and they continue to push the envelope. Compelling stuff!
NEW!
So I'm presenting new material around building your virtualization practice, and I wanted to let everyone know.
