Cloud solutions will become one good new option in the solution provider tool kit, but beware the "cloud-only" play, especially early on when even the cloud-friendliest customers will continue to have plenty of components on premise.

Dave Sobel, will return to the United Kingdom (UK) to deliver his presentation, “Virtualization: What you need to know to get your business ready,” for the West of England Small Business Specialist Community (SBSC) Group. In 2009, Sobel spoke to the London, Thames Valley Park (TVP) and Midlands SBSC Groups on the same topic. This latest discussion will take place at the Thornbury Golf Club near Bristol on January 25 at 6:00 p.m. (GMT).

Dave Sobel, Evolve Technologies: "Server virtualization penetration will be one of the biggest trends. With Gartner reporting penetration rates only in the teens, we'll see increasing demand in server virtualization. This will require admins to prepare management strategies for larger virtualization deployments.

Dave Sobel comments, "IT spending will loosen in 2010, but projects will still require cost justifications for approval. Server virtualization has a solid ROI, and admins who can measure and show that ROI will get projects approved."

"We often criticize Microsoft for its overly complex software licensing, but this is the upside of that process," noted Dave Sobel, CEO of Evolve Technologies, a Fairfax, Va.-based Gold partner.
